It is important to remember, you are what you choose to be. You are as you see yourself. As long as you do not impose yourself or your beliefs upon others. No one gets to decide who you are, how you identify, how you live your life. Be the you, you know that you are.
Chapter 11 – Devon I awoke the next morning to the feeling of a chill in the air. My first thought was to wonder if I’d set the thermostat on the A/C too low. As the breeze brushed across my body and with it the scents of grasses and flowers, I remembered the night before and where I should have been waking up. I didn’t want to open my eyes. What if it was just the A/C? I lay there for several minutes smelling the wildlife around me, feeling both fear and excitement, my eyes clenched shut. Then, when the [...]
Chapter 10 When Devon arrived home, he found sitting in his small apartment, a strange looking man with green skin, brown hair, dressed in a pair of black tights and a leather vest which showed off his warty green wrinkled chest. Devon let out a little scream of shock, “Oh, calm down; you knew I was coming,” snapped the troll. Standing, he bowed with a flourish adding, “I am Narod, here to serve you.” Devon stood for a moment with his mouth agape, still in shock, finally recovering he announced, “I need something to drink, would you like one as [...]
Chapter 9 Over the next few days, both began dealing with their imminent departure. Together they met friends, had dinners, saw movies and entertained. Finally, on the afternoon of the fourth day, they sat back where it started, alone together on Matt’s couch. Devon knew he needed to get home; it was time, but they were both worried now, and scared. “I guess it’s time,” said Devon pushing himself up off the couch. Chewing his lip as he walked to the door then paused and looked back, “I guess the next time I see you we’ll either feel like complete [...]
Chapter 8 “It’s real, Devon,” said Matt, smiling. “Well, it’s as true for me as it is for you. I met with Eluard. We talked, and I picked you, which is who they already had in mind.” “So, it’s real?” said Devon with a look of hopeful disbelief. Then his eyebrow lifted, and he tilted his head slightly, “You’re willing to leave everything behind and take this on faith?” Matt shrugged. “Isn’t that all we have in the planning of our future, faith? In ourselves, in what we know, and those around us that we trust? I don’t have anything [...]
I signed up for the Master Class series so I could see Neil Gaiman and Annie Lebowitz classes. Surprisingly I found the most profound comment so far from Steve Martins introduction to his class on comedy. He said, "I hope to teach you that there is room for you out there" As a writer, amongst who knows how many writers, that is profound. I knew from the start that my books were not going to be for everyone. You don't write a series of books from the Great Grandson of Lucifers point of view, his hatred of The Father, his [...]
